He was a graduate of University of Texas in Austin with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Vernon was a retired mechanical engineer for PPG in the chemical division for 37 years.

2. His e-mail address was vernbrun@comcast.net on 6 May 2010. I hesitate in writing this email as my past experience has not been satisfactory with
internet contacts regarding genealogy and therefore please regard this as confidential
correspondence. I started collecting genealogy data in the late 1980's and devoted most of
my time to it thru the early part of the 1990's. I wont bore you with the details but it
was all travel, letters, cemeteries, etc. but NO internet. All data was documented with
sources. I am now working on an Ahnentafel for my grandchildren, gathering all the
genealogical data that has been gathered over the years for me, my wife and my son's wife;
this includes the ancestors, their children, grand children, great-grandchildren,
marriages, etc. I did my own and my wife did her's and my son's wife back then. I hope to
go back at least 10 generations, however I have many more generations for myself.

The other night I accidentally stumbled on to Martyn Family History and started to check
over it since I am a descendant of John B. Martyn and Mary Piper. My full name is Vernon
Martyn Brown. My mother's father was Eli Palmerston (or Palmer) Martyn, son of John Piper
Martyn and Hannah Mann. Your records show him as Eli L. Martyn, which I feel is incorrect.
He signed Palmer on his marriage license and Palmerston is shown on his death certificate
(I have copies).

There is no case of mistaken identity as my mother and I lived with my grandparents until
I was 8 in Dallas, TX. Sometime around 1926 or 1927 I accompanied my grand parents to
Canada where we visited the Martyns and went to Toronto to visit Julia if I remember
right. Eli and his wife sold their place in Dallas and purchased a farm south of Sparta
and near the old homestead. I spent three months there in the summer of 1934. They sold it
shortly thereafter and returned to Dallas.

As time permits I intend to compare my records with yours, but I am already finding little
things that don't seem right such as dates. Inscidently, are all the persons listed
actually descendants of John B. Martyn and Mary Piper ? Or are they just people with the
name Martyn?

I know that you have put in a lot of hard work on Martyn Family History and only one that
has been in genealogy research can really appreciate it. I'm sure you know what I mean.

Regards and keep in touch.
