5. His obituary was published in The Evening News on 11 July 1957 in Sault Ste. Marie, Chippewa, Michigan, United States. Francis (Frank) Eli Payment of 209 Johnston St., a former chief of the Sault steam plant for Edison Sault Electric Co., died at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday. Mr. Payment was stricken while in Tate's Hardware Store and was removed by ambulances to the War Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Born in Sault Ste. Marie, on May 2, 1889, Mr. Payment was in the lighthouse service for the coast guard for many years. He was then employed by Edison Sault Electric Co.,where he was still working part-time, although he had been retired last September. He was a member of the Grandpa and Grandma Club.Mrs. Payment died in 1955. Survivors include two sons, Edward of Lansing and Thomas of the Sault; three daughters, Mrs. Elmore (Beatrice) Perkins, Mrs. Charles (Anne) Cartwright and Mrs. Willis (Pearl) Whitman, all of the Sault; 26 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
