ÆTHELBERHT (-762[372]). Bede names "Aedilberctum, Eadberctum et Alricum" as the three sons of "Uictred filius Ecgberti rex Cantuariorum"[373]. "Æthelbertus filius regis Wihtredi" granted property to abbess Mildred by charter dated 11 Jul 724, consented to by "Eadbertus ad petitionem germani sui Æthelberti"[374].

He succeeded his father in 725 as ÆTHELBERHT II joint King of Kent, ruling jointly with his brother Eadberht. Yorke says that, according to charter evidence, Æthelberht was the older of the two brothers[375], but this is not apparent from the charters referred to below.

"Æthilberht rex Cantuariorum" granted fishing rights and land at Broomhill, Kent to the abbey of Lyminge St Mary by charter dated 741[376]. "Æthilberchtus rex Cantie" subscribed a charter of "Eardulfus rex Cantuariorum" dated 748 which granted land in Kent to the church of Rochester St Andrew's[377]. He continued to rule after the death of his brother Eadberht. "Æthilbertus rex Cantiæ" wrote to Boniface, dated [748/54][378]. "Æthilberhctus rex Cantie" exchanged pasture rights for use of a mill with St Augustine's, Canterbury, by charter dated 762[379]. Canterbury was burned during his reign.

Æthelbert II (Old English: Æðelberht; 725\endash 762) was king of Kent. Upon the death of his father Wihtred, the kingdom was ruled by his three sons, Æthelbert II, Eadberht I and Alric. Æthelbert seems to have outlived both of his brothers and later reigned jointly with his nephew Eardwulf. He died in 762, according to the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle (recorded under 760 due to chronological dislocation). He seems to have left a son, Eadberht II.

He issued a charter before his accession, dated 11 July 724, that was witnessed by his father. As king he issued further charters, confirmed a charter of his brother Eadberht I, and witnessed a charter of his nephew Eardwulf.

During the latter half of Æthelberht II's rule, Kent was under the overlordship of Mercia, but Æthelberht II maintained his position as king.

EALRICH (-after 762). Bede names "Aedilberctum, Eadberctum et Alricum" as the three sons of "Uictred filius Ecgberti rex Cantuariorum"[391]. "Ælrico filio nostro" subscribed his parents' charter dated 699[392]. He succeeded his brother in 762 as EALRICH joint King of Kent. According to William of Malmesbury[393], King Ealrich reigned for thirty four years but this seems unlikely given the likely birth dates of the sons of King Wihtred.

Alric (Old English: Alric; 8th century) was a king of the Saxon kingdom of Kent, jointly with Æðelberht II and Eadberht I.

Alric acceded with his two brothers on the death of his father Wihtred, according to Bede, but is otherwise unknown. Kelly observed that the reign of 762 to 796 attributed to him by William of Malmesbury "is evidently fantasy, inspired by a desire to account neatly for all the brothers mentioned by Bede".
